some of our past Guest speakers

Dr Jim Johnstone, Head of Mathematics gave us a fascinating insight into how he makes Maths more relevant to our children - getting away from artificial problem solving in text books, to solving real life problems like exactly how much paint is needed to paint the maths room. He told us about Everest Gallois, who spent the night before he expected be killed in a duel writing up his group theory - still a cornerstone of mathematics today. (Yes, he was killed). And we think our HSC students are under pressure!
